Representative Raleigh joins Blaine Police for Evening Ride Along

The Blaine Police department has a long history of working closely in the community and providing ride along events with citizens and elected officials is an important step in building relationships. Rep. Raleigh worked with Chief Brian Podany and Sergeant Mike Rygg to schedule the ride along.

Our Blaine police department is out in our community every day. They are our protectors, our civil servants. They are true professionals in every way.

Rep Donald Raleigh, Blaine

This is not the first time that Rep Raleigh has worked with the Blaine police department. A graduate of the 2016 Blaine Citizens academy, Raleigh learned first hand how the department works to provide safety to our community.

“For me it is not just about the badge and the uniform. I have worked closely with the department over the 26 years that I have been a resident of Blaine. From providing security services while the commander of the Anoka County Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, to working with officers during ICS 300 & 400 training, the department has consummate professionals up and down the ranks.” said Raleigh.

Recently Raleigh and Sergeant Villegas rode together for Night to Unite. It is that type of close interaction that makes the relationship between our police and elected officials work.

Rep Raleigh will be posting pictures and his perspective on the ride along as a follow up to this post.

ST. PAUL, MN, June 28, 2022—The state’s most effective small business political action committee today endorsed Representative Donald Raleigh (Blaine) for re-election in House District 32B.

Minnesota small businesses are facing painful economic headwinds – record inflation, skyrocketing energy costs, labor shortages, supply chain disruptions – and many have not fully recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic. Now more than ever, Main Street needs strong advocates in the Legislature.

“Representative Raleigh scored 100% on the 2021-22 NFIB MN Voting Record and has proven he’s willing to fight for the right of our members to own, operate, and grow their businesses,” said John Reynolds, NFIB Minnesota State Director. “Don understands first-hand the challenges facing Main Street, and he is committed to making our state a better place to raise a family and do business.”

State legislative endorsements are decided by the NFIB MN PAC Board, which is comprised of small business owners in the state. Incumbent legislative endorsements are based on the 2021-22 NFIB MN Voting Record. Lawmakers must have a score of 70 percent or better to be considered for an endorsement.

NFIB represents over 10,000 small businesses in Minnesota. The NFIB MN PAC endorsement is an important signal to voters across the state that a candidate will stand with small business.

Happy Independence Day!

Happy Independence Day!

Happy 4th of July!
This is my absolute favorite holiday.

This is the day that we Americans declared that we were free, independent, and set apart from the rest of the world who were subjects to kings and emperors. We set our own course. We declared ourselves to be independent, self reliant, free. We did not slough off the shackles of a king to then be bound by another king.

We declared that we were sovereigns, that we were “endowed by (our) Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are
LifeLiberty and the pursuit of Happiness. ”

We rose up and stated that by the “Authority of the good People” we had the right, entitled by God, to be a new and separate country. A people bound together not by a flag, a fence or by force, but an idea. The idea of the united States of America. Each state independent, each state free, each state with their own guiding constitution, government, and leaders.

But no king.

I always marvel that our founders did not look to others for their liberty. They stated that we had a natural right to liberty. But with this declaration comes the responsibility to maintain this liberty.
– No king is coming to save us.
– No one will come to our rescue.
– It is us, and us alone.

We are a people who strive for a more perfect union, one that is rooted in safety with the goal of being happy. What an amazing idea.

That is why I am running for re-election. We have a government of citizen servants who answer to the people, to you.

I will never forget that the reason I was elected as a State Representative is to serve the people. Never myself.
Rep. Raleigh speaks at Veteran’s Bill Signing

Rep. Raleigh speaks at Veteran’s Bill Signing

The new law helps to end and prevent veteran homelessness, further fund veterans homes and cemeteries and provides bonuses to those who served.

Rep Raleigh addresses the issue of veteran’s suicide.

Today Governor Tim Walz signed the historic, standalone, veterans bill that was passed with incredible bipartisan support in the House and Senate in Minnesota.
“This is the work we came here to do.” said State Representative Donald Raleigh. “It is this type of bipartisan work that helps our veterans living in Minnesota.”

The new Veterans Law includes:

  • $5.4 million that will fund a grant to provide assistance to veterans and former service members and their families who are homeless or in danger of homelessness.
  • $1.7 million annually to fund temporary housing options for vets experiencing homelessness and to increase outreach activities to end homelessness.
  • $10.3 million in fiscal year 2022 and $16.5 million in 2023 for the design, construction, furnishing, and equipping of new veterans homes to support vets in Bemidji, Montevideo, and Preston, Minnesota.
  • Nearly $25 million in fiscal year 2023 to fund service bonuses to post 9/11 era vets and Gold Star families.

“I am proud of the work we put into this bill, and I am looking to the future and what we can do next for our community.” said Raleigh. “I am turning my attending to veteran’s suicide and helping to prevent these tragedies. This bill is a good model for us to use, and I am committed to helping my sisters and brothers who served to get the help and support they need.”

Career Launch Business Summit

20 August 2020

Today I participated in the Forest Lake Area High School and Lakes Center for Youth and Families 2nd Annual Career Launch Business Summit.

Career Launch is designed to foster partnerships with area businesses to provide students experiential learning opportunities while creating exposure for our business partners. The Business Summit is an opportunity for business, high school, and government representatives to connect and better understand how we can work with one another to help one another. For the 2020-21 school year, Career Launch has four focus areas: agriculture, manufacturing/engineering, automotive/diesel, and health care.

During the 2019-20 school year, Career Launch was able to expand in several ways including the addition of a professional skills development course in which students also earned their OSHA 10 certification; and a work-based learning course in which students earned high school credit, earned a wage, and most importantly learned new skills. All of this was possible because of your efforts.

Find out more at: https://www.flaschools.org/careerlaunch

This program is leading the way to introduce students to interesting careers in our area and prepare them to use their passions and skills. Equipping our youth to make important career decisions based on hands-on experiences is the type of thought leadership that gets me excited about how our area schools are focusing on preparing students for our Minnesota Workforce.

For students exploring apprenticeship “earn while you learn” careers in Minnesota’s robust Construction and Building Trades careers, Construction Careers Foundation has a website: constructioncareers.org. On this website, students can watch videos, connect directly with Union Training Centers (JATCs) and they can download the Construction Trades app to opt in to direct messages from their trades of choice. For more information and any questions contact Sarah Lechowich at 651-274-2521 or Sarah.Lechowich@mnccf.org.

I want to thank the Forest Lake Area High School for this great presentation, for working in the best interests of students and getting this information out to business leaders in our community.

Offering our students a path to a solid career is what education is all about.

Blaine, Minnesota – Donald Raleigh, the Republican endorsed candidate for State Representative in House District 38A, scored a decisive win in the Republican primary on Tuesday, August 11, securing 56 percent of the vote in the three-way race. As the Republican nominee, Raleigh goes on to the November election in the race to replace retiring Republican State Representative Linda Runbeck.

“I want to thank the voters of Anoka and Washington counties who took time to vote. I’d also like to thank all the Raleigh volunteers who helped run a true-grass roots campaign that included thousands of door-to-door contacts, phone calls, and one-to-one conversations about our campaign with friends, neighbors and co-workers. Their efforts were the key to our victory,” said Raleigh.

Raleigh won all 16 precincts in the district, which includes southeast Blaine and all of the cities of Centerville, Circle Pines, Lexington and Lino Lakes in Anoka County, and northern Hugo, in Washington County.

“We enjoyed a strong victory on Tuesday, and we’re building our momentum to duplicate our efforts for victory in November,” Raleigh stated. “Our message will continue to be about rebuilding our economy in the wake of COVID-19; providing health care price transparency and protecting employer-provided health insurance from a government takeover; and delivering the leadership and priority-setting needed to help balance the state budget without raising taxes in the face of a $5 billion state budget shortfall,” Raleigh concluded.

DONALD RALEIGH ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE

Running to succeed Rep. Linda Runbeck, who has endorsed his candidacy

Blaine, Minn. – Husband of 29 years, father of four, U.S. Army Veteran and small business owner Donald Raleigh today announced his candidacy for State Representative. Raleigh is seeking the District 38A seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives currently held by Republican State Representative Linda Runbeck, who is retiring from the legislature.

“I’m running to bring the leadership skills I’ve gained as a U.S. Army Veteran, small business owner and community volunteer to the capitol,” said Raleigh. “The coronavirus pandemic has changed our world, and government leaders must address the many challenges the virus has caused in areas such as emergency response, economic recovery of our business community, balancing the state budget, health care reform and many more,” Raleigh stated.

The founder and president of a multi-million dollar digital marketing agency, Raleigh served nearly eight years on active duty in the U.S. Army, including serving as a military escort to former President Reagan and as  Military Intelligence Non Commissioned Officer stationed on the former East German border.

In her endorsement of Raleigh, retiring State Representative Linda Runbeck said, “Today, the work at the Capitol requires someone who is younger, tech savvy, solution-oriented and community-connected. I believe that person is Donald Raleigh, a family man, veteran, small business owner, church-goer and servant-leader with the perfect skill set to make an immediate impact for our district.”

A lifelong Minnesotan, Raleigh was born in St. Paul and has lived in Blaine for 25 years. He received his degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from American Military University of West Virginia and also attended the National Command Staff College at Maxell Air Force Base in Alabama. His four children all graduated from Centennial High School.

Raleigh has served as a Parks Commissioner for the City of Blaine and is a life member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Vets organizations. He is also a DNR Hunter Safety Instructor and long-time volunteer with the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol. He and his wife attend Eagle Brook Church.
